About Bring Me The Horizon
Bring Me the Horizon (abbreviated as BMTH) are a British rock band formed in Sheffield in 2004, currently consisting of lead vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls and keyboardist Jordan Fish.
The style of their early work, including their debut album has been described primarily as deathcore, but they started to adopt a more eclectic style of metalcore on later albums. Furthermore, in newer albums there has been a shift in their sound to less aggressive rock music styles. Their most recent albums saw a shift into different genres, such as electronica, pop and hip hop.
Bring Me the Horizon draw's their earliest influences from bands such as At the Gates, Carcass, Pantera, Metallica, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Every Time I Die, Norma Jean, Skycamefalling and Poison the Well.
Bring Me The Horizon was chosen as their name because of a line of dialogue spoken by Captain Jack Sparrow in the 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, "Bring Me That Horizon".
Even though Bring Me The Horizon and its members do not promote or follow any particular religion, different aspects and influences of religion can be seen in their music.
